Your Crypto at Ainslie Is Safe – Here’s Why the Recent Binance Incident Doesn’t Affect Us

November 4, 2026

News

Key Takeaways

  • Ainslie Crypto has no connection to Binance, and no customer assets sit there.
  • Customer crypto is held offline by specialist third-party institutional custodians.
  • Offline custody removes the kind of online access exploited at Binance.

We understand that recent news about a major security incident at Binance has raised questions for several of our customers. We want to give you a clear update so you can feel confident about the assets you hold with Ainslie Crypto.

What happened at Binance?

On or about 29 October 2026, hackers (identified by the FBI and blockchain analysts as the North Korean state-sponsored group TraderTraitor) drained Binance’s hot wallets, the online systems used for day-to-day trading and withdrawals, after gaining access to internal systems through a compromised engineer’s laptop ([BleepingComputer, 1 November 2026](https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/fbi-links-63-billion-binance-crypto-heist-to-north-korean-hackers/)). Roughly US$6.3 billion in crypto was stolen in a short window on Binance’s own estimate, with about US$3 billion frozen on-chain by blockchain partners ([ABC News, 31 October 2026](https://abcnews.com/Business/binance-estimates-security-breach-impact-63-billion/story?id=137698510)). Binance has stated it will cover customer losses from its own funds and has begun restoring withdrawals. This was an attack on the exchange’s own online infrastructure.

Ainslie Crypto is separate from Binance.

Ainslie Crypto is an independent Australian company. We have no ownership, operational, or custodial connection to Binance or any other major exchange. Your assets with us are not held on Binance (or any similar trading platform).

How we protect your assets

We partner with industry-leading institutional custodians, including Zodia Custody, the digital asset custodian backed by Standard Chartered Bank ([Ainslie Crypto custody](https://ainsliecrypto.com.au/custody-2/)). These specialists are designed for the highest standards of security used by banks and large institutions.

Key protections include:

  • Offline (cold) storage – The vast majority of customer assets are held in air-gapped, offline systems that are never connected to the internet. This removes the main risk that affected Binance’s online hot wallets.
  • Insurance – Our custodians carry specialist digital asset crime and cyber policies over their custody operations ([Zodia Custody insurance summary](https://zodia-custody.com/insurance-policy/)).
  • Independent, segregated custody – Your crypto is held by these third-party custodians under strict controls, not mixed with our company funds or kept on an exchange.

This multi-custodian, offline-first approach is deliberately different from the model used by large trading platforms. It is built for long-term safekeeping rather than high-volume trading. No custody model removes risk entirely, which is why ours is built to keep customer assets off the systems an attacker can reach.

Your assets remain secure, insured, and under the care of proven custodial leaders. If you have any questions about your holdings or would like more detail on our custody arrangements, please [contact our team](https://ainsliecrypto.com.au/) as we’re here to help.

Thank you for trusting Ainslie Crypto.
